Australia has always been particularly proud of our sporting heroes and we acknowledge our rugby, cricket and athletic stars on a regular basis. While we continue to applaud some of Australia’s finest athletes, we often pay little attention to those unacknowledged Australians working to promote Australia in other ways.
These are people with the passion and the drive to take their business into the highly competitive global market and promote Australia’s products and services. What many people don’t know is that through their work overseas and the foreign income they bring back into Australia’s economy they are further helping to build our local economy and community. The Australian Export Hero Awards is an initiative to reward those individuals for having the drive, the passion and the vision.
Australia’s 2008 Export Heroes announced last month by the Australian Institute of Export will receive their awards on the evening of 10th April 2008 at a vice-regal ceremony in Adelaide.
The nine Export Heroes, judged by the Institute panel, have made extraordinary contributions to the Australian economy through their export achievements. All Export Heroes have shown an outstanding commitment to building Australia’s export image on the world stage, through their outstanding careers, organisations and industries.
“With exports contributing to more than 20 per cent of Australia’s GDP, it is important that we recognise their contribution; for they too have competed on the world stage and won” --Ian Murray, Executive Director for the Australian Institute of Export.
Australia’s Export Heroes Awards is an initiative of the Australian Institute of Export aimed at recognizing ‘the best’ exporting individuals. Since its establishment in 1997, the Institute has acknowledged over 70 Export Heroes, who represent a vast range of different industries within Australia. Information on each of the nine heroes to be inducted has been included as well as the registrar of the heroes to date.
“There are many facets to developing our export culture in Australia. As well as adding to growth of our international trade. The Export Heroes have contributed to Australia’s image as a progressive member of the international business community and are role models for future generations of Australian exporters” --Ian Murray.
Australia’s 2008 Export Heroes will be inducted at a special awards evening to be held at Government House, Adelaide on the 10th April 2008, in the presence of His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR Governor of South Australia.
